English Seminar, Prof. Sri Sekhar Samaddar

Well known playwright, actor and director of Bengali theater and Senior Professor of the Department of Bengali, Jadavpur University, Sri Sekhar Samaddar, was in college on 7th October, 2015 to deliver a lecture to the students of the Department of English.

His lecture titled THROUGH THE EYES OF THE STAGE : JOHN OSBORNE'S LOOK BACK IN ANGER focused on the British play staged in 1956. The play has been a part of the Calcutta University syllabus for the past two decades.

Prof. Samaddar through personal anecdotes narrated his experiences with eminent theater personalities, Sri Shambhu Mitra, Srimati Tripti Mitra, Sri Jogesh Chowdhury and Sri Rudraprasad Sengupta. He traced the history of Bengali theater and brought out the relevance of the play today and in our cultural context.
